How we define a better workplace
We believe that work, when it’s done right, should never feel like work. We love what we do, simply put. We believe in creating a better workplace that is more than just a slogan. You hear this term a lot, right? Well, how often is this actually true?
It’s very rare that this topic is discussed in an interview process (although, not rare at Perkuto), but let’s face it: it’s on everyone’s mind. So rather than waiting for an interview, we’re going to dish our perspective when it comes to work-life balance.
Our team collaboration sets a foundation of trust that allows team members to maintain a work-life balance. We’ve set a 37.5 hour work week, unlimited vacation, flexible schedules, and more but really, it’s support from leadership and fellow team members that enable work-life balance.
Nobody needs to stress over going to a doctor’s appointment, for example. Your health is just as important (if not more important) as your career. We’ve had many employees take time off for personal reasons and come back expressing how grateful they are to have a team that is there for them.
When our employees take a vacation, there’s never an obligation to check or respond to email, Slack, and certainly not phone calls or texts (it’s also why personal phone numbers are not used for work). Not to mention, Perkuto discourages work communication outside of normal office hours, which helps set boundaries and promotes a healthy work-life balance.
During the workday, we encourage employees to block time to refresh, whether that be working out, walking the dog, or simply meditating. Knowing you have the ability to step out for a moment is empowering in itself.
🔆 Did you know? Every year (in non-COVID times), we select a destination and embark on an employee retreat, also known as the Perkuto Festival. The main focus of this yearly festival is not placed on work, but strengthening our relationships and most importantly, meeting in person! In February 2020, we went to Cancun. The year prior was in Mont-Tremblant, Canada.
A growth mindset
A growth mindset is powerful – it has the ability to open doors for learning, define career paths, push towards improvement, and more. It’s one of the reasons we promote from within and invest in our people. We empower employees to create personalized development plans to help them grow into the areas that matter to them. For example, do you want to grow towards becoming a Director of Services, Practice Director or Client Director?
In our consultant role, you have the opportunity to grow into a more technical role or if being strategic aligns better with your career path, you might grow to be an account lead. In our project management positions, individuals also have the opportunity to grow into people management roles and other leadership positions like Director of Services.

Learning opportunities at Perkuto range from shadowing your colleagues and accessing courses in LinkedIn Learning to attending monthly “lunch and learns.” Specialized training is also provided for managers and those on the consulting services team, where they go through workshops on time management and leadership skills.
Although we offer learning sessions designed specifically to enhance technical and soft skills, we also create opportunities for team members to share something they’re great at. For example, we’ve learned everything from journaling and investing to mindfulness. This encourages employees to bond over non-work-related subjects, and showcase their hobbies to the team.
