The 2016 edition of the Marketo Marketing Nation Summit is just around the corner; May 9-12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Year after year, Summit represents the best place to see the latest trends in MarTech and network with the most important names in the industry. With more sessions, more technology vendors/partners, and of course more parties, Summit is the place to be to gain valuable insight about the Marketing Nation; for community managers all the way to c-levels.
As the excitement for Summit builds, we designed a high level guide for executives making the trip.
Why – Think about your goals going into the Marketo Summit 2016 and use these goals to plan your trip; who to speak to and which sessions to attend. Summit is an excellent opportunity to network but also to shop around for the best MarTech solutions available. Align your Summit plans with your business objectives and you will definitely see a high return.
Who – Before landing at LAS, take a look at the list of exhibitors and speaker sessions; booths you want to stop by, people you want to speak to, and products you are most excited to demo. Summit is hectic, so plan accordingly but also allow yourself time for the unexpected; never underestimate who you may sit next to at a session or meet at the Marketo Gala.
Where – The session schedule and floor plan have been carefully designed by Marketo’s team; but remember, you can only be at one place at a time. It is important to have a well-laid plan, but also to throw this plan away for something more valuable. Partners have already started sending out their Summit programs, so be sure to check your inbox to get your name on the guestlist.
I sat down with Perkuto’s CEO Alexandre Pelletier for some of his best tips for the Marketo Summit 2016
How many years have you been at Summit? and what changes have you seen?
Alex: This is my seventh consecutive summit. I have seen extraordinary growth in the Marketo ecosystem, Marketo Marketing Nation, and in MarTech; both in size and level of complexity of offerings. I have seen great advances in the quality and number of sessions at Summit; it is great to see the growth of our community.
What do you expect to see at the 2016 Summit?
Alex: Given that we are going to be in Las Vegas, I expect that Summit will be quite hectic and full of the usual Marketo energy. I am looking forward to seeing updates from Marketo as well as the next big thing to take over our industry. I am also excited to see the usual crop of (and new) faces at the Gala and around the many events at Summit.
What sessions/events are you most interested/excited for this year?
Alex: I look for sessions from thought-leaders on strategy and on the future of Marketing Automation. Of course, I am excited to hear what our very own Solutions Architect (and Marketo Ninja) Kristen Malkovich has in store for us at her two sessions. I am also interested in Maria Pergolino’s session on the C-Suite – Marketing Your Marketing to Gain Support and Recognition.
Where will you be spending your time at Summit?
Alex: I will be spending time with Perkuto’s clients, continuing to improve Perkuto’s Marketing operation offering and sharing my own personal knowledge and expertise. For my c-level peers, I suggest spending your time with partners; Summit is a great opportunity for networking and form long-lasting business relationships.
What tips can you provide for an executive making their first trip to Summit?
Alex: Far and above, go into Summit planning for the unexpected. You never know who you may meet and have an opportunity to have a meaningful business discussion with, so plan to have some free time around the Keynote, expo days, parties, and Gala. Perkuto’s team will be in full force at Summit 2016, so be sure to stop by booth 624 to say hi or set up a conversation with one of our many Marketo Experts. Outside of the expo hall, our Marketo Champion, Kristen Malkovich, will be presenting two sessions; May 10th, at 4:30 pm: “Will it scale? Tips and tricks to build scalable programs in your Marketo mansion” and May 12th, at 10:30 am: “Increase your instance’s curb appeal with RTP and ABM”.
